Opening Hours, Parking, Dogs and Chidren.

11.00 - 15.00 and 17.00 to 23.00
Restaurant unavailable Sunday evening.
Please phone to book (Saturdays are very busy). There is ample car parking.
Children are welcome, but please keep them under control.
Plese note that there is no chidrens menu, however reduced portions can be aranged for Sunday Lunch. Dogs with responsible walkers welcome in the garden.

Other Stuff - History

New Inn

new inn The Three Legged Cross was known as the New inn up until the mid 1900's, when it was renamed by Simmond's brewery.

A note on the BFS website says that "This location is of great historic significance, being connected with the old Georgian Butchers on Avery Lane (next to the Pub), and the fact that the Drovers once used the Pub, and, it was an old toll road Pub as well. It traces the history of "Roads", and the vehicles, from the horse, through horse drawn vehicles, and through to the present day transport. Read more Here

Garth Hunt

The Garth hunt, which was very fashionable in the 1920's and '30s, would convene at the New Inn on hunting days. They would drink from the stirrup cup, and quaff pints of ale. The hunt has now moved elsewhere.

Kennel lane in Garth (Priestwood 2) remains as one of the few reminders of this past.

Ghost

ghost Rumour has it that the landlord of the pub in the early 1900's banned a Gypsy woman for being drunk and disorderly. She put a curse on him that made him so ill that he had to move away. It is thought that the ghost of the Gypsy can be heard banging about the pub at times.
